Summer’s a time when trees come to life,
and flowers begin to bloom.
Animals awake from their long winter sleep,
while the birds sing a happy new tune.
We all undergo some changes in life,
with growth as our number one goal.
But, before those changes can ever take place
we go through a winter of the soul.
This is a time when growth seems to stop,
and depression is all you feel.
Having the need to want to give up,
and neglecting your spiritual zeal.
Winter’s a time when the world is quiet.
None wish to dare venture out.
And so it is like our soul within,
our faith is replaced with doubt.
But hope comes forth from around the next bend.
Tomorrow’s a brand new day.
You’ll be more beautiful than before,
because summer is on the way.
You’ll possess more splendor within yourself.
More radiant you’ll come to be.
If you had not gone through the winters past,
new growth you’d never see.
Our lives are like the four seasons.
Each destined to fulfill their role.
But the one we gain more wisdom from
is the winter of the soul.
