Where Battles Are Fought

by Deean G. Strecker

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2 Timothy 1:7

The mind can become a terrible place
when thoughts erode your head.
Jealousy, lust, envy and pride.
These things, to God, are dead.

Our battle is not with flesh and blood,
but against an unseen force.
Within the regions of our mind
the devil plans his course.

The enemy seeks to destroy us.
Through deceit he tells his lies.
If he can control the thoughts we think,
then he can control our lives.

I'm told that our minds are a battlefield,
where the enemy attacks with care.
There's no sure way of winning the war,
without using spiritual warfare.

When feeling depressed, lonely or sad,
remember that Satan's near.
Placing these thoughts within your head
as he fills your spirit with fear.

Pay heed to the thoughts you think about,
and remember, a war is at hand.
Your mind is the place where battles are fought.
Take hold of God's word and stand.

The Bible holds the truth of the Word of God,
and the truth shall set you free.
Take captive each evil and lofty thought.
When you do, then Satan must flee.

"And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect will of God."
Romans 12:2
