Be Ye Transformed

by Deean G. Strecker

When a worm is wrapped within a cocoon
from our eyes, it chooses to hide.
It's then that God miraculously works,
as changes take place inside.

What beauty will emerge from within,
when the work of our Lord is done?
A butterfly springs forth, with outstretched wings.
A new life has just begun.

When God's in the process of changing us,
in ways we're a lot like that worm.
We hide ourselves from our old sinful ways,
so the will of God we can learn.

Though friends and family may wonder
why we choose to no longer follow
the path we once took, and its evil ways,
that life to us is now hollow.

Choosing to separate ourselves from the world,
with a cocoon we wrap ourselves in.
It's God's protection while we learn and grow
towards the new life we are to begin.

Though now I may be but an ugly worm,
one day I'll spring forth with might.
Like a beautiful butterfly, I will break free,
and for Jesus my wings will take flight.
