Before It's Too Late

by Deean G. Strecker

Lord, I've come to You today
to offer this solemn prayer.
I feel myself slipping away.
My life is filled with despair.

Although I seek to follow Your ways,
I've stumbled and taken a fall.
I'm now trapped within Satan's grip.
Your name is all I can call.

Rescue me, Lord, from this pit I'm in.
On my own I can't climb out.
His hold on me is very strong.
My faith is replaced with doubt.

Destroying my soul is Satan's aim,
as he sifts me just like wheat.
I've begged many times to be taken home,
as my strength has grown quite weak.

I've asked myself many times
why I have come to this state.
If You believe in lost causes, Lord,
please save me before it's too late.

To escape reality is the reason
why many drink and use dope.
Their lives are filled with so much pain,
it's the only way they can cope.

Rescue the dying and lonely, Lord,
give them strength to seek and find.
Satan knows the end draws near.
He's caused our eyes to go blind.

Place a shroud of angels, Lord,
around Your people today.
Keep us safely tucked under Your wing,
and out of Satan's way.

You said that all things work for good
to those who love the Lord.
Help me to learn Your laws
and live with others in one accord.

Never before have I slipped and fallen
as deep as I did this time.
Thank You for Your grace that pulled me out.
Without it, I couldn't have climbed.

So if you feel trapped in Satan's pit,
please don't hesitate.
Call on the Lord and He'll come at once.
Do it before it's too late.
