Heaven's Tears

by Deean G. Strecker

Depressed, I watched the rain fall down,
as the wind did fiercely blow.
I remembered a story told to me,
by my Grandmother, long ago.

As I reflected upon her loving words,
my mind brought me back in time.
to a lesson she taught to me as a child
about rain, and also sunshine.

She said when the sun is shining and bright,
hearts are joyous and gay.
Many enjoy a warm summer breeze,
while the children love to play.

But, when the rain begins to fall,
our hearts begin falling too.
There's something about the change of weather
that causes our hearts to turn blue.

These lessons my Grandmother taught me
as I grew up over the years,
I'm uncertain if they're true or false.
Is the rain really called heaven's tears?

When those in heaven are filled with grief
as Satan destroys our land,
the rains are their tears that fall from their eyes
as they pray for God's saving hand.

I'm told that good things come from rain,
like the trees and crops we grow.
Without the rain, no flowers we'd see.
Their beauty we'd never know.

And goodness comes from tears we shed
while seeking our Father above.
He's ready and willing to forgive our sins,
through His endless and boundless love.

Whether tears come from heaven or from our eyes,
their purpose is still the same.
Good things come from tears that fall
through them, there's always some gain.

So remember the lesson of flowers and trees,
though Satan may tell you a lie,
growth can't come if tears aren't shed.
It comes when we learn how to cry.

"...weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning."
(Psalm 30:5)
