Remember Me

(This poem was written for the wife of a New Orleans Police Officer.
The officer was killed in the line of duty in early 1998.)

Can you see me up in heaven
while I知 here on earth below?
Can you see the tears I shed each day,
or do you even know?

God chose to take you home on high,
and now I must go on.
But, Darling, it seems so hard to do,
since now our child痴 been born.

What kind of mother can I possibly be
without you by my side?
I値l try to do my very best,
but my fears I cannot hide.

I thank God for all he gave me,
and the trials He sees me through,
but above all other gifts he gave,
I知 grateful He gave me you.

Please always hold me in your heart,
and say a prayer for me.
Ask for strength that I may go on
until your face again I see.

One last thing I壇 like to say,
and then I値l let you go.
I値l always love you with all my heart.
This, I just thought you should know.

With eternal love,
Your wife
