God Became His Own Son

by Deean G. Strecker

“In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost
I baptize you my friend.
Arise to walk in the newness of life,
you’ve just been born again.”

As a child I questioned the Trinity.
Who should I love the most?
Should I pray to the Father, or the Son today,
or to the Holy Ghost.

“Who is the most important of all?”
while praying I often asked.
Who should I call to carry my load.
To Whom should my burdens be cast.

Believing the three were separate,
my fears I could not help.
Worried of neglecting the others,
and guilty I always felt.

But then, one day, the Lord my God
opened my eyes to see.
No longer having the eyes of a child,
I saw One instead of three.

I saw myself in only one form,
and this I did not know.
In me there is also three in one,
a body, spirit and soul.

Though Jesus Christ came in the flesh,
He still possessed all three.
And we are made in the image of God,
but one person is all we’ll be.

Hear these words Oh Israel,
the Lord our God is One.
To show the depth of His great love,
God became His own Son.

The apostles understood this truth.
In the Book of Acts we’ll see.
They baptized in the name of Jesus,
for Jesus is the name of all three.

Don’t place Him second in a Trinity,
for His name will say it all.
Rather than Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
let Jesus be the Name that you call.

" For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son
is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful,
Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father
,
The Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government
and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and
upon his kingdom, to order it,
and to establish it with judgment
and with justice from henceforth
even for ever. The zeal of
the LORD of hosts will perform this."
(Isaiah 9:6&7 KJV)
