Suppose you were asked to go to a place
where sin is at its worst.
Where people murdered, beat and robbed.
Where they lied and often cursed.
You were told to show these people love,
in all that you do and say.
To share the gospel of the Lord,
and help them find the right way.
Would you go to such a horrible place,
uncertain about your fate,
to walk the streets where evil lurked,
and live among men who hate?
Could you leave the safety of your home
where evil does not prevail,
and go to a place where demons live,
much like the pits of hell?
And, if by chance you were also told
you’d be beaten and also killed.
That your life was not your own to save,
but your death the Father willed.
Knowing these things that you were told,
would you still leave your wonderful home,
and go to this far off, distant place,
to endure all that you’ve been shown?
This is exactly what Jesus did,
when He left His home above.
He came to the world knowing His fate,
showing us how to love.
Realize that Jesus didn’t think twice,
when faced with such a request.
Without any thought of what was to be,
He gave us His very best.
Do we in return give Him our best
in the ways we choose to live?
Do our actions reflect examples He gave?
Is our aim to receive or to give?
If faced with the same request from the Lord,
would you stay or willingly go?
Could you leave your home and go to this place,
in a land you do not know?
My friend, you’re already in that land,
but you’re only passing through.
Our home is not within this world.
Heaven is where we’re going too.
Many will die because of their faith,
and others will lose their land.
All will suffer for the sake of the cross.
Let us take courage and stand.
Sent by the Lord we bring forth light,
and show love to the dying and lost.
In a world full of darkness, far from our home
let us not consider the cost.
